形态描述：多年生水生草本。块茎较小；根状茎细长，横走。茎细弱，长30-50厘米，浮于水中。叶片长25-40厘米，或更长，宽约4毫米，扁平，浮水。花序总状，长6-16厘米，雄性头状花序2-3 (-4) 个，雌性头状花序2-4个，互相远离，下部1-2个具细长的总花梗，生于叶状苞片腋内，总花梗下部有时与主轴贴生；雄花花被片膜质，匙形至倒三角形，花药长1-1.2毫米，宽约0.5毫米，椭圆形，花丝长约5毫米，丝状，弯曲；雌花花被片条形或近匙形，先端齿裂至深裂；柱头长椭圆形，单侧，花柱长约2毫米，子房纺锤形，下部收缩呈短柄。果实长约4毫米，纺锤形至椭圆形，具柄，花被片着生于果柄下部。花果期7-9月。2n=30。
